PARIS, France — The earliest known fossil of a mosquito, going back more than 100 million years, recommends that male mosquitoes were likewise bloodsuckers. A global group found this fossil in Lower Cretaceous golden from Lebanon. Scientists recognized two very much safeguarded male mosquitoes of similar species, furnished with puncturing mouthparts, showing a probability of benefiting from the blood of ancient creatures.

This differences with cutting edge mosquitoes, where just females are hematophagous, utilizing puncturing mouthparts to benefit from blood from people and different creatures.

"Lebanese golden is, until this point in time, the most established golden with serious organic incorporations, and it is a vital material as its development is contemporaneous with the appearance and start of radiation of blooming plants, with all what follows of co-development among pollinators and blossoming plants," says Dany Azar of the Nanjing Foundation of Topography and Fossil science at the Chinese Foundation of Sciences and the Lebanese College, in a media discharge.
